The Best 3 Day/ 2 Night Rann Utsav Travel Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Bhuj | Transfer to Tent City Dhordo | Explore Tent City | Sunset at White Rann

The best and most comfortable way of reaching Bhuj is by train. It’s very convenient, as the trains run from Ahmedabad at night, and you reach Bhuj early in the morning, the next day. 

On reaching Bhuj, head to Tent City Dhordo, which is the venue of the famous Rann Utsav. 

Spend the whole day, exploring the vast and expansive Tent City at Dhordo, try out the local culinary delicacies, go shopping for local artisanal stuff, attend a workshop, or do any of the many different things to do in Rann Utsav, mentioned previously in this Rann of Kutch Travel Guide.

Head to the White Rann to witness an amazing sunset.

If you can align your trip to Rann of Kutch, with the full moon, you are in for a treat, as the White Rann gets gleaming with all the moonlight.

Day 2 – Sunrise at the White Rann | Day Trip to Dholavira and Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary

Start the day early, and witness a beautiful sunrise at the White Rann.

Post breakfast, hire a local cab, and take a road trip to explore Dholavira – A UNESCO World Heritage site, dating back to the Harappan Civilization. 

The archeological site of Dholavira is 86 kms from Tent City Dhordo, and will take you around 2 hours to reach. 

You can also visit Kutch Desert Wildlife Sanctuary, which is another 30 odd kms from Dholavira.

By the time you’ll be back to Tent City Dhordo, you’ll be tired, so feel free to spend the remainder of the evening at leisure.

There’s just so much to do at Tent City Dhordo, during the Rann Utsav, that you’ll be tired physically, but never get bored, even for a single minute.

Day 3 – Visit Kalo Dungar and Local Artisanal Villages | Departure from Tent City |  Bhuj Sightseeing | Departure from Bhuj

Spend the last day of this 3 Day Rann of Kutch Itinerary, by first heading to Kalo Dungar which is the highest point in Kutch, Gujarat. Thereafter, head back to Tent City Dhordo, pack up your stuff, and bid adieu to Rann Utsav.

On your way to Bhuj, stop by at the local villages of Nirona and Gandhi Nu Gam. Learn about the process that goes in making the famous Rogan Paintings. Finally head to Bhuj Railway Station and take a train back to Ahmedabad.
