7 Day Phuket Dive + Travel Itinerary and Guide | Amazing Thailand
Reading Time: 12 minutes

The Phuket province is located in Southern Thailand, surrounded by Phang Nga and Krabi, and Phuket is the biggest island in Thailand as well. Not only this, Phuket is also one the most visited destinations in South Thailand, owing to the presence of Phuket International Airport and excellent road accessibility. Phuket has got it all – Sandy Beaches, Limestone cliffs, Hiking Trails, some World Class Hotels and Resorts, sumptuous street food and a vibrant night life.

Not only this, Phuket is also famous among Scuba Divers, as there are plenty of amazing World Class Dive Sites that can be reached from Phuket, such as the Similan Islands.

The first part of this 7 Day Phuket Travel Itinerary includes doing the 3 Day Similan Island Liveaboard experience with Sea Bees Diving, followed by 3 days of exploring Phuket. You’ll also learn how to UNLOCK MASSIVE SAVINGS in Phuket, which will elevate this 7 Day Phuket Dive + Travel Itinerary to a different level altogether.

Please note that as the 3 Day 2 Night Similan Island Liveaboard by Sea Bees Diving, departs every Friday from November – April, you should plan to reach Phuket early morning on Thursday, and book your place on the Similan Liveaboard in advance.

7 Day Phuket Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in Phuket

Arrive early in Phuket and check in to Palm Garden Resort. Take your time to recover from the travel fatigue, before heading out to Sea Bees Diving to coordinate for your scuba gear that you’ll be requiring for the next three days on the Similan Island Liveaboard.

PS – Palm Garden Resort is just a 10 minute walk from Sea Bees Diving.

Once you are done, grab something to eat or drink from 7 Eleven and take a stroll all the way to the Chalong Pier, and don’t forget to have a quick grab at BITE – An Instagrammable Cafe next to Sea Bees Diving (They offer 15-20% discounts to all customers of Sea Bees Diving).

Grab a Bite at BITE

If you arrive in Phuket early in the morning, you can spend the rest of the day ticking off some of the best things to do in Phuket such as visiting the famous Wat Chalong and Big Buddha Phuket, followed by a visit to the Chalong Bay Rum Distillery, and catching the Sunset from Promthep Cape. Or you can sign up for any of these Private Phuket Tours.

Make sure to crash early and get a good night’s sleep.

Day 2 – Depart for the Similan Island Liveaboard | 3 Dives

Wake up early in the morning, and get picked up to head to Thap Lamu Pier in Khao Lak, where the MV Marco Polo Liveaboard will be docked and waiting for you.

You’ll reach Thap Lamu Pier by 8 in the morning.

Say Hello to the MV Marco Polo Liveaboard by Sea Bees Diving, which will be waiting for you at the Thap Lamu Pier (above)

Once you board the MV Marco Polo Liveaboard, you’ll be given a welcome briefing, and shown to your cabin.

And the 3 Day 2 Night Similan Island Liveaboard Trip will commence.

First stop will be at Koh Bon where you’ll be doing the first dive. Thereafter you’ll be heading to Koh Tachai where the second and third dive will happen.

Don’t worry, you’ll be properly briefed about all timings and everything on board by the Trip Captain.

Dinner will be served by 7 PM, and you’ll probably crash by 9 PM.

Day 3 – 4 Dives | Similan Island

This will be an early start as you’ll do your first dive for the day at 7 in the morning.

The dive site will be Richelieu Rock, and you’ll be doing three dives here, with the first one at 7 AM, second at 10 AM and the third one at 1 PM. (Timings will be confirmed on board)

A Glimpse of what you’ll see when you Go Diving in the Similan Islands

Thereafter, you’ll head back to Koh Tachai, where the boat will be moored for the night.

But you’ll also be doing the fourth dive of the day at Koh Tachai.

After the long and exciting day, it’s highly likely that you’ll crash in by 9-930 PM after dinner.

Day 4 – 3 Dives Similan Island Liveaboard | Return to Phuket

The first dive of the day will be at Koh Tachai, followed by the second one at Koh Bon and the third and last one will be a Wreck Dive.

By 5 in the evening you’ll be back at Thap Lamu Pier, with tons of memories, and by 7:30-8 PM you’ll reach Phuket.

Stay for the night at Palm Garden Resort – Sea Bees Diving’s sister resort. By the time you’ll reach back, all you’ll be craving for is a nice bath, some yummy food, and a good night’s sleep.

For more information about Scuba Diving in the Similan Islands and why you should choose Sea Bees Diving for your Similan Island Diving Trip, check out My Similan Island Liveaboard Experience with Sea Bees Diving.

Day 5 – Food Walk in Old Phuket | Visit the Night Market

After waking up from a good night’s sleep and having a sumptuous breakfast, check out of Palm Garden Resort, and Check In to either Thavorn Palm Beach Resort or Thavorn Beach Village Resort and Spa for the remainder of this 7 Day Phuket Dive + Travel Itinerary.

Both Thavorn Palm Beach Resort and Thavorn Beach Village Resort and Spa, are unique in their own way. Scroll Down for a detailed recommendation, highlighting my experience at both, Thavorn Palm Beach Resort and Thavorn Beach Village Resort and Spa.

Having said that, once you have settled up in your Phuket Resort, head out to Old Phuket for a Food Tour with A Chef’s Tour.

There’s an afternoon tour available as well as an evening one. I took the Baba Tastes Experience with A Chef’s Tour, which had a meetup time of 3 PM. This is the tour that I’d recommend to you guys as well.

It’s a 4 hour walking tour and you’ll end up tasting over 15 amazing dishes at eating joints, where mostly the locals eat. Not only will you just be sampling different dishes, the guide Nam will also be briefing you about the history of Old Phuket, and taking you to different points of significance.

You’ll get to try out some sticky handmade fresh spring rolls, wok-fried mee hoon, Hokkien noodles peppered with delicate prawn wontons and char sui barbecue pork, leaf-wrapped miang kham bites, spiced chicken curry puffs, gaeng som fish curry along with plenty more culinary surprises that await you on the Baba Tastes Experience with A Chef’s Tour – which is one of the Top Things to do in Phuket.

Some local delicacies that you’ll get to try on the Food Walk with A Chef’s Tour

Everything that you try will be bursting with flavours

You’ll end the Food Walk at around 7 PM, giving you plenty of time to go and experience one of the many night markets in Phuket. Ask recommendations about other things to do, from Nam, your guide for the Phuket Food Walk with A Chef’s Tour.

You can even end up doing Bar Hopping or going on a Pub Crawl at the famous Bangla Road near Patong Beach.

Day 6 – Phuket Full Day Adventure with TAGTHAi

As already mentioned in this 3 Day Bangkok Travel Itinerary and this 3 Day Chiang Mai Travel Itinerary that, getting the TAGTHAi City Pass, is one of the best Travel Hacks for Thailand, as it will literally UNLOCK MASSIVE SAVINGS.

To get you up to speed, TAGTHAi is an App Based Digital Pass that unlocks access to various attractions in the city. When you head to the TAGTHAi website, you’ll see that apart from the TAGTHAi Phuket City Pass, you can also purchase the TAGTHAi Bangkok City Pass and the TAGTHAi Chiang Mai City Pass, and elevate your Thailand Trip to a different level altogether.

If you end up extending your Bangkok stay, beyond this 3 Day Bangkok Travel Itinerary, you can also avail the TAGTHAi City Pass for Ayutthaya and Pattaya.

The TAGTHAi Phuket City Pass comes with a price tag of 45 USD, but offers a lot of experiences such as –

➡️ Adventure at Hanuman World including Ziplining and Skywalk

➡️ Spending time with the Elephants at Phuket Eco Elephant Park or Elephant Jungle Sanctuary

➡️ Massage Sessions at The Raintree Spa

➡️ Snorkelling at Banana Beach

➡️ Vouchers for Food and Beverage at multiple partners.

Check out Phuket’s Biggest Rainforest Zipline at Hanuman World followed by a Thai Massage at The Raintree Spa

The experience at Hanuman World itself is worth 71 USD. Which means, even if you just do the Hanuman World experience and spend time with the elephants, grab a bite at one of the F&B partners and end the day with a relaxing Thai Massage at The Raintree Spa worth 43 USD, you would end up saving twice or thrice of what you spend on the TAGTHAi Phuket City Pass.

Day 7 – Day at Leisure

As it’s the last day of this 7 Day Phuket Dive + Travel Itinerary, it’s up to you how to spend the day.

Take the time to wake up at leisure, enjoy the breakfast spread and experience what your Phuket Resort is offering.

Now, you can spend the rest of the day just lazing around at your Phuket Resort, or tick off any of the following experiences off your Phuket Bucket List –

Or, you can just book the Top Rated Phuket Activities here, to plan a day out in Phuket.

Both Scuba Diving in Phuket and Attending a Thai Cooking Class, have been some of the most immersive local experiences I’ve had.

Day 8 – Check Out and Depart from Phuket

And just like that, one amazing week full of diving and exploring Phuket comes to an end. It’s time to say Bye to Phuket and continue on your Thailand Trip.

You can fly out to Chiang Mai to experience North Thailand with this 3 Day Chiang Mai Travel Itinerary, or you can take a bus to Krabi to experience more of South Thailand, or you can head to Bangkok and undertake this 3 Day Bangkok Travel Itinerary.

Where to Stay in Phuket?

Palm Garden Resort

As the first half of this 7 Day Phuket Dive + Travel Itinerary, includes going on the Similan Island Liveaboard Trip with Sea Bees Diving, it only makes sense that you stay at Sea Bees Diving’s sister Resort.

There are 185 rooms on offer at Thavorn Beach Village Resort and Spa and the 5 F&B outlets are well equipped to cater to the guests.
