So, you’re planning your travels and about to book the flight tickets, but the best deal you are getting is with a layover in Dubai, and you are confused.

Well we’ve got you covered. Read along and find all you need to know about what to do if you’ve got a 6 hour Layover in Dubai.

If you’ve less than 4 hours layover, just stay put at the airport, stroll along, get yourself pampered in the spas, and enjoy some world class food and drinks in the premium lounges.

If, however you’ve got a 6-hour layover, giving you 3 hours of time, the Burj Khalifa – Dubai Mall – Dubai Fountain circuit is the best bet. However, before you can head out, you need to check out the VISA requirements.

Visas

The citizens of 48 countries, including Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States and Germany, can get visas on arrival, which will allow them to easily leave the airport during their layover. Furthermore, Indian passport holders with a valid American visa or Green Card are also eligible for a visa on arrival.

Transportation

DXB is located only 3 miles from the city centre and is well connected via Buses, Metro and Taxis. Bus stations are located opposite T1 and T2, and the Metro stations are at T1 and T3.

Burj Khalifa

Without a doubt, you just have to discover the Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building, a global icon and a feat of engineering, on your layover in Dubai.

The best views of Dubai are from the observation deck located on the 124th and 125th floor (At The Top Burj Khalifa), and then there is another observation deck (555m – world’s highest observation deck) on the 148th floor at the top of the 828m Burj Khalifa.

The ride up is a thrill in itself, as you travel 10 meters per second on the high-speed elevator. The view at the top on the observation deck, in Burj Khalifa spans from the desert through the city to the ocean, and is arguably most magical at night. Modified telescopes provide a glimpse into the city’s past and future, as they depict the development of Dubai.

Time Required: You need to keep at least an hour in hand for the tour up Burj Khalifa, however this does not include the transit time to and fro from the airport.



Dubai Mall

After spending a good hour admiring the city of Dubai from the observations deck at the top of Burj Khalifa, make your way to the elevator, where at the base, you’ll find yourself in the enormous Dubai Mall. Jammed with shops, restaurants, ice-rinks, movie theatres, underwater aquariums, indoor theme parks and massive kid zones, a stroll through the mall is sure to impress and amaze every preference and taste.

Time Required: No matter how much time you can spend, you can never explore Dubai Mall to its full extent in one go. However, we recommend spending somewhere between an hour to a little less than two hours, depending on the duration of your layover.



Dubai Fountain

Submerged within the 30-acre Burj Lake, at the foot of The Dubai Mall, powerful water jets are laid out strategically over an area equal to the size of two football pitches, jetting up to 22,000 gallons of water as high as 140m in the air at any one time.

Each colourful, illuminated jet sways in time to music, producing what has become the most popular show in Dubai. As the fountains fire, a range of beautiful, classical and contemporary music plays in sync with the show, which takes place every 30 minutes from 6pm daily. The Dubai Fountain offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in a captivating water, music and light experience, and the fact that it is strategically located near Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, makes a visit to the Dubai Fountains definitely on the cards.

Not only will you be enjoying for 30 minutes, but you will also be able to admire the beauty of the massive Burj Khalifa from here.

Doing this circuit during your 6-hour layover in Dubai, will be the best thing you can think off. If you have a longer layover, you can take a taxi to the Jumeirah beach, and admire the Burj Al Arab, or head out to the Souks, or do anything from the plethora of activities available.
