Reading Time: 7 minutes

A trip to Leh Ladakh is there on every travelers bucket list, but not everyone is keen enough to take a road trip to Leh Ladakh – The Land of Passes. We took a road trip, back in June 2017, to Leh Ladakh where we started off as 9 strangers but over the duration of the trip, turned into friends for life. Such is the beauty of a road trip – it turns strangers into friends and friends into family.

Follow me as I take you on a Photo Journey to Leh – Ladakh – The land of Passes .

And we start the journey – 9 stranger souls

We started our journey from the town of Manali, crossed Rohtang La pass , Baralach La pass and ended our journey for the day at the transit town of Sarchu, in Lahul and Spiti district. One can find plenty of tented accommodation in Sarchu, which also happens to be the border town of Himachal Pradesh and the gateway to entering Jammu and Kashmir.

Now that we had a good nights sleep in a quaint little home stay in Leh, and our bodies got acclimatized, we set out on our Journey to Leh – Ladakh, to explore the local attractions in Leh, such as Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Shey Monastery, Thiksey Monastery and the Hall of Fame.

Our major Journey to Leh – Ladakh started the next day, when we were on our way to Nubra Valley, and crossed the mighty Khardung La pass on our way. At 18380 feet, its the highest motorable road in the world. We were lucky enough to witness snowfall whilst on the top and also some hail on our way down to Nubra from Khardung La. If crossing Khardung La pass was not enough, we spent the later part of the day at the sand dunes near Hunder in Nubra Valley, where we got to see the Double Humped Camels as well. Witnessing the sun set behind the mountains and the golden light hit the Maitreya Buddha Statue, was indeed a divine moment.

The last leg of our Journey to Leh – Ladakh started with us crossing the mighty Chang La pass, to reach Pangong Tso, where one can easily see 4-5 shades of blue in the water. Though the lake has become quite a touristy spot ever since movies like 3 idiots, Jab Tak Hai Jaan came out, we were able to find our quaint little spot where we did some photo shoot of all Wravelers. We called a night after witnessing the Milky Way from our camps in Spangmik.

And we were on our way back to Manali via Keylong, Leh, bringing the Journey to Leh – Ladakh to an amazing end with each of us becoming friends for life and carrying loads of priceless memories with them. Though the trip got over, the bond of friendship that each one of us developed during the trip, only got stronger with each passing day.
